Skater of the Month
Olivia Picou
Age: 18 years old
Level: Freestyle 5 (ISI)
Hometown: Albuquerque, NM
Coach: Pam Kaminsky
How I Got Started: I had tried several sports before ice skating. Every time I’d start a sport I never felt connect with it, but one day my school was passing out sports we could do during the year and the clubs that were associated with each sport. I saw ice skating and joked about doing it. I had a friend in ice skating so I decided to join the rink in Amarillo, Texas. I remember my mom telling me, “You have to stick with this, you can’t just quite because you have a few bad days.” Here I am a decade later still skating, learning, and advancing.
Hobbies: I love to draw and write. I also love burning a hole in my wallet from art supplies, to vinyl, to unnecessary Knickknacks. Spending time with friends getting food, watching a movie or show, or shopping.
Favorite Element(s): I love my broken leg spin!
Favorite Skater(s): I really like everyone! And wish I knew everyone more.
Goals: Get my Axle, double loop, and learn a flying spin.

Show
Show practice has been going very well, everyone! With us only having a few weeks until the show, we can't forget to tell our family and friends to come and watch. We have this graphic with show information for everyone to send out and have on their socials.
Tickets will only be sold at the door this go around, for $5 a piece. People who want to watch both shows DO have to pay for both. Children under 6 years old get in free. Volunteers get in free, as well. If you do not volunteer for a job, you must pay to enter.
We hope to see all of your family and friends there to support the club and its members.

In Skating This Month
National Skating Month is coming soon!
The event will be from January to February to help celebrate the upcoming 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing. USFS will be celebrating their 21st year of hosting National Skating Month!
Do you know anyone who has ever wanted to lace up a pair of skates and take the ice? Now is their chance! Learning to skate is easy and fun. With a little determination and a bit of practice, they will be gliding forward and even backward across the ice and toward your goals! Whether they want to learn to skate backward, spin really fast or even land an Axel, a National Skating Month event can help them get started.
The theme this year is “The Next Century of Figure Skating Starts With YOU”.
Keep a look out for our rink’s celebration. We will be having all different types of games, events, and even a clinic!
