Website Update News

Coming this month we will have a few changes to the website.

  • The Calendar will be updated to include our classes, such as Learn to Skate and Power Skating. It will also show when those classes will be cancelled for hockey games, inclement weather, etc. Not to worry though, there will still be an email that goes out about cancellation of classes.

  • The Swap Shop is set to be up and running soon. If you have any figure skating gear you would like to sell or donate to the club it can go up on the Swap Shop page of our website. That way if anyone is looking for a dress, skates, etc. they can check their home rink before driving out of state or paying beaucoup bucks for what they need. We hope this will help out many of our skaters. More information about the Swap Shop will become available as it gets closer to opening, but if you have any questions now please feel free to shoot us an email.

Keep an eye out for these updates coming soon! You won't want to miss them.

Did You Know?

A man named Jackson Haines (1840-1875) is thought to be the Father of Figure Skating. He was an American ballet dancer in New York who incorporated ballet moves and techniques into the sport. Haines style was more graceful and he introduced accompanying music, while the English style that was being used at the time was more rigid and formal. Haines also screwed his blades directed into his boots, which gave him stability for more athletic jumps. The common practice at the time was to strap the blades onto the boot. The changes he made struck a cord all over the figure skating world.

Skating Goals for 2021

With the new year here, we want to get all of our skaters on the right path to working on their goals for 2021. Giving yourself small goals to reach throughout the year can really help you as a skater in the long run. For example, set goals to be reached every three to six months this year and see how far it takes you!

Figure skaters are always encouraged to set goals for themselves, so it is important not to see this as a new years resolution, especially since those are so easy to give up on. Skaters can keep up with their goals is by writing them down in their practice books or in their phones. Keeping them close by when at the rink helps keep us accountable.

So, what are you're skating goals for this year?
